How it works

Welcome to a month of finding simple ways to tune into the here and now.

Mindfulness is simply about being in the moment, observing our thoughts, our aurongo or emotions and the world around us. And that’s what this journal is all about – finding a small moment each day to embrace the here and now.
For some, mindfulness might be a new concept and for others, it might already be a part of your every day. This could be a reminder to prioritise mindfulness this month or a chance to learn something new. For this reason it’s up to you as to how you approach this month.
This is why as part of the campaign you will be given a variety of tools to support you through the month. You might choose to use them all, or none at all. This month is all about what works for you to have a mindful moment each day.

Get a free mindfulness journal...

This journal was designed to act as a guide and a prompt and can be used as either. It’s yours to use in the best way to support your Mindfulness Month. You can write, draw or leave the pages blank, or simply use the prompts for a little bit of daily inspiration.

The Month Done bookmark not only marks your spot but signals the momentum you’re gaining in creating a regular mindfulness practice in your daily life. As you progress, shift the bookmark as a physical reminder of where you are up to.

It’s that simple. Follow the new prompt for each day. Doing it at the same time each day is good as it helps reinforce the habit. Whatever your approach, ka pai and we hope you enjoy your mindfulness journey.

Have access to guided mindfulness…

Kristina Cavit from The Kindness Institute has created a guided program designed for someone taking the plunge into mindfulness for the first time. It will of course be beneficial for even the most experienced practitioners. The theme for the month will be Te Whare Tapa Whā and each week will be focused on different parts of the wharenui. If you can’t wait until August you can check out what Kristina does here.

This mindfulness month is for everybody - beginners are really welcome and I will walk you through every step of the way. I will be guiding you through meditations and Mindful activities like mindful walking and journaling. It's up to you how you choose to have a Mindful moment each day & I look forward to supporting you through this challenge! ’ - Kristina Cavit

When you register for the month, you will receive a password that will give you access to 31 guided mindfulness practices released each day. The audio files will be hosted by Podbean and you can either access this on your desktop or download the Podbean Pro app from the App Store or Google Play.

Get a daily email with mindfulness activities…

When you register for the month, you will receive an email update each day which will contain daily inspiration and practical mindful activities brought to you by Pause Breathe Smile that you can do to build mindfulness into everyday life.

Being mindful doesn’t require quitting our jobs, selling everything we own and embarking on a silent retreat in the woods. It’s simply about being in the moment, observing our thoughts, our aurongo or emotions and the world around us.

If we think about mindfulness as being part of our day rather than another thing to add to the to-do list then it feels a little less intimidating and we benefit all day, rather than for a short time each day.

Get access to our community…

Once registered you will be able to access our private Facebook group where you can share your journey across the month with likeminded individuals. Share stories, thoughts and be encouraged by others - you won’t be taking mindful moments throughout the month alone.

How your journal works

Step 1: Let's start at the very beginning

Use your Month Done bookmark, start at the beginning of the book and focus on the simple prompt for each day. Make it fun and keep it easy. You can write, draw or leave the pages blank, or simply use the prompts for a little bit of daily inspiration.

Step 2: Bookmark your day

Your Month Done bookmark not only marks your spot but signals the momentum you’re gaining in creating a regular mindfulness practice in your daily life. As you progress, shift the bookmark as a physical reminder of where you are up to.

Step 3: Repeat again and again

It’s that simple. Follow the new prompt for each day. Doing it at the same time each day is good as it helps reinforce the habit. Whatever your approach, ka pai and we hope you enjoy your mindfulness journey.
