A 3000km hike to raise $3000 for NZ Mental Health
Kia ora team!
From September this year I will be walking the length of New Zealand on the Te Araroa trail, around 3000km from Cape Reinga to Bluff, to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing in NZ and to fundraise for the Mental Health Foundation.
Now more than ever is a time for us to look after the mental wellbeing of ourselves, our families and our friends. Now is the time to check in with each other and support those who we know are struggling. I have many friends who have had their battles with their mental health and I myself have also struggled in the past. I have always found that one of the best ways of looking after my own wellbeing is being among nature and I feel that the TA will be a great way for me to advocate for getting back to the basics, spending less time online and more time outside.
I’m aiming to raise $3000 to help the Mental Health Foundation continue supporting Kiwi households in this changing environment. That's $1 for every km that I tramp on the Te Araroa trail. I. I will be needing to tramp on average 25km a day to finish the thru hike by the end of January so $25 can sponsor me for a whole day on the trail! I will greatly appreciate anyone who wishes to support me on this journey.
