I'm fundraising for mental health

Most of us know someone who has needed support on their mental health journey and it's so hard for many people to find that help.

I'm helping raise money and awareness for mental health because nearly 50% of New Zealanders will experience a mental health problem in their lifetime, and I don’t want them to face it on their own.

Your donation will help the Mental Health Foundation provide people with free information, resources and campaigns covering the A-Z of mental health and wellbeing topics. It will also help them advocate for helpful and hopeful policies and services for people living with mental illness.

Saturday 17th Oct
Nervous, me? Absolutely! Training is going well but half a marathon feels like it'll be long way. I now have my mental health foundation t-shirt to wear, so that's exciting. I'm hoping I might get the fundraising target past $600. That would be great. I would love to help more people to access the help they need when they need it.

Getting to the business end of things now. Longer runs becoming more regular, more hills and more higher intensity intervals training. Another 10km tomorrow.

Friday 25th Sep
I'll be running 15km tomorrow, my longest run ever. Part of it involves running through a tunnel so I have to carry a torch. Aiming for under 2 hours all going well. Thanks for helping me to get to almost 75% of my fundraising goal!

Wednesday 23rd Sep
Today was an 11.5km run with a couple of big hills thrown in. My longest run yet! It took me an hour and a half but it's designed to build reserves that I can call on over a flatter but longer distance.

Sunday 20th Sep
Six weeks today until the half marathon. Yesterday I did 10km in 1 hour and 9 minutes so I'm feeling on track (excuse the pun!) - but there are lots of kms of  training runs to go! Thanks to  John Hellemans for his generous encouragement and training programme tips.
