Running for Mental Health

Hi whānau 🙋🏽‍♀️

I am entering in the Taupō marathon held on the 31st of July. I will be running to help raise money and awareness for mental health because in the past I have experienced, and know to an extent, what it's like to live with a mental illness. So by joining this event, it is a course of action for me to shed light and to normalize kōrero around mental health. At least 50% of all New Zealanders will experience a mental health problem in their lifetime, and I don’t want them to face it on their own.

Your donation will help the Mental Health Foundation provide people with free information, resources and campaigns covering the A-Z of mental health and wellbeing topics. It will also help them advocate for helpful and hopeful policies and services for people living with mental illness.

So please, if you can, any koha big or small will be appreciated. Or you can support by sharing my page, commenting or by riding along this journey with me 🤗

Nga mihi,

Kay x

Mental push

Wednesday 19th May
Ran 3k today, yaaass. Gotta say though, it was a big mental push to keep going honestly! It actually is all in your head you really do have to keep those positive, "keep going, you got it, lessssh go" self talk thoughts in your mind man to cross that finish line. Will do another 3k this week, have a hike on Friday but will record in the fitness activity part, and blog update once a week. That's all for today whanau, peace ✌️

First day of training

Thursday 13th May
Tested out the waters and see how far my running capabilities could take me 😬 first of guys, I'm not a runner so this is a new vibe, new space for me. And I love it! So my training week started today as my babes have been home sick past few days. They are all better now, at school so planned a run this morning. I was going in sceptical but positive lol long story short I managed to set a good steady pace and ran a flat route of 2.5km! Without stopping lol bit stoked. Rest day tomorrow then back on again the next day. See you then 🤟💜

Well done sista giel thank you for thinking about others and their mental health so greatful for you.there are so many people that are going through hell in their own minds and literally they don’t have any coping methods or don’t even know how to find an organisation for help and with a little help from you is just everything to people that go through mental health every day 💜
