Make a Difference

The Mental Health Foundation has a vision of a society free from discrimination, where all people enjoy positive mental health & wellbeing. We are so grateful to have you with us on this journey.

With your support, we can continue our mahi.

Here is how your donation helps:

  • Advocacy. Our policy and advocacy team exists because of your support. Because of you, we can continue to ensure the voices of those living with mental distress are heard. Our team advocates on behalf of people with experience of mental health issues for better access to services, a national commitment to upholding dignity and human rights, and equal participation in communities and in employment.

  • Offering free resources and information to New Zealanders across Aotearoa to improve knowledge and understanding about mental health and wellbeing topics. Whether it’s to support themselves or to support a loved one, we’re here to make sure they have the right tools in their kete.

  • Providing information and support to individuals, friends and whānau so they know where to turn to for help. By sharing what we know keeps people well and what support is available to help people cope with the hard times, you’re helping to make sure no one has to go through a tough time alone.

  • Action our commitment as a Te Tiriti o Waitangi partner by engaging with and being led by Māori, uplifting and amplifying Māori voices, incorporating mātauranga Māori into our work and seeking improved outcomes for Māori.

Free resource packs are now available for order and download for your school, kura, workplace or community

“One of the things that really helped me with that was talking to people a lot. If I wasn't able to talk to the people around me while I was going through that I do not think I would be here right now… You are drowning, and just being open and talking about it and having real conversations keeps your head above water.”
